Shortcuts By Joy Cash

I use a lot of shortcuts in  preparing my families meals since we are a busy

family---

Hamburger Helper Casserole

Prepare hamburger cheese and shells dinner as directed----

open up a can of mixed vegetables and a can of peas ... drain  both of

them .... after hamburger helper meal has been prepared .... pour into a long

pan and add canned vegetables .... mix up and place tinfoil on the

pan .... place in oven for about 30 minutes on 300 degrees ...... serve

immediately ... or turn to warm and let set all day ... it will be ready by

dinner time---

* to help with the messy clean-up---

line the pan with time foil and pour ingredients on top of foil .... then top

with tin foil and place in  oven .... use this tip when using any pan for

baking cleanup is a cinch---

This casserole should serve 6 to 8 people

Enjoy-------

Shepherds Pie or Poor Man's Casserole

Cook up your hamburger  in a skillet ... adding enough water to the pan to

almost cover the meat ... after the meat is cooked ... drain in a colander and

rinse with hot water (cooking with the water and rinsing with hot water

helps to remove most of the excess fat that is in the meat)

next ... put  already made up mashed potatoes in the bottom of a casserole

dish ... add layer of meat over it .... place a can of mixed vegetables over the

meat (drain your vegetables first before putting over meat)---add layer of

potatoes--place any kind of cheese over the potatoes--add rest of

potatoes ---place three to four spats of butter on top of the potatoes down

the center of the dish cover with tin foil and place in oven for about 25

to 30 minutes---or until cheese is melted---pull out of oven and serve

immediately---

(while meat is cooking--follow directions on how to make the instant

potatoes or make homemade mashed potatoes---if you want fresh vegetable--or

want to use frozen vegetable--cook vegetable the same time you are starting

the meat---)

This is not a diet meal but  helps to preserve the vitamins in the food

that would normally be cooked out of the food....

*Freezes wonderfully in freezer---if there are any leftovers*

my  son is not a vegetable eater but will eat this in a heart-beat---

We call it "Shepherds Pie" or  "Poor-mans Casserole " ... it is very

economical to buy and make---and tastes great!
